LOW TEMPERATURE FTIR STUDIES OF THE PROTONATION OF A RETINYLIDENE SCHIFF BASE

Abstract:Abstract— This note supplements the paper by Badilescu et al. (1989) [ Photochem. Photobiol. 49 , 313-318]. Low temperature solution spectra of 1: 2 and 2: 1 mixtures of trans -retinylidene-tertbutylamine and propanoic acid are presented. The results show that the degree of protonation is both temperature and concentration dependent.
