Abstract: | Summary The characteristics of sodium diethyldithiocarbamate as the inductor of iodine-azide reaction carried out electrolytically have been presented. The influence of the pH and of the concentration of iodide ions on the consumption of iodine in the induced reaction has been investigated. The conditions of the coulometric titration of Et2DTC-Na, guaranteeing a high value of the induction coefficient and the range of determinability from 20 to 200 ng have been stated. The influence of accompanying ions on the course of the determination has been described. The possibility of determining trace amount of mercury within the range of concentrations (2–8)×10–8M on the basis of the difference between the total and the final concentration of the free ligand before and after the extraction of the complex has been demonstrated.
