| Abstract: | Propagation of short pulses of electromagnetic radiation in a transparent medium with a frequency dispersion is considered for the linear and nonlinear modes. The role of back reflection of radiation in the spectral regions with the negative dielectric constant was clarified. For the nonlinear mode, the exact form of the stationary solitary wave whose profile includes a point with infinite steepness is found. |
