| Abstract: | The changes induced in the reflectance of single crystal gold due to strain have been determined in piezoreflectance measurements covering the spectral range from 1.7 to 6.5 eV. On the basis of the measurements the band separations L1 ? L2′ = 4.6 and X4 ? X5 = 3.4 have been determined and a spin orbit splitting of the X5 level of 0.5–0.7 eV has been resolved. |
