A note on the cathodic processes during electrolytic coloration of alkali halides

By using optical and scanning electron microscope techniques it has been shown that prior to electrolytic coloration of KBr the ionic transport taking place in the crystal leads to the formation of a new alkali metal cathode. Electrons emitted from this cathode and injected into the crystal create F-center.^{4, 5}
