| Abstract: | The thermodynamic properties of the esters of 2,4,6-trinitrobenzoic acid have been investigated using the techniques of hot-stage microscopy and differential scanning calorimetry. In each case an enantiotropic transition process was observed below the melting point. This transition has been explained in terms of restricted rotation and conformational freedon of the flexible alkyl chain in the crystalline solid state. |
