| Abstract: | A cw laser induced, thermal lens effect in a thin layer of MBBA nematic liquid crystal was observed. Due to the birefringence both focusing and defocusing were obtained, depending on the polarization. A qualitative discussion of the aberrational effect in this thermal thin lens is given. |
