Abstract: | The use of repetitive wavelength scanning in qualitative and quantitative flame emission spectroscopy is reported. A repetitive scan is superimposed on a continuous scan and the resulting signal passed through an a.c. signal processing system. Flame background radiation is strongly attenuated and atomic emission lines and sharp bandheads appear as sinusoidal waveforms. This technique facilitates the identification of atomic emission lines and quantitative scanning atomic emission spectroscopy. |
