Abstract: | A theoretical calculation of the principal parameter in an open coaxial cavity resonator formed by a barrel-shaped outer mirror and a cylindrical inner mirror was carried out. Analytic expressions were derived for the natural frequencies, the positions of the caustics, the field distributions and the ratios of the values of Q for various oscillation mode for 2d/ 1 ( is the wavelength; d is the characteristic dimension of the cavity).
