| Abstract: | Infrared spectroscopic analysis of solutions containing 4-hydroxyacetophenone (HAP) and the model surfactant 2-(2-hexyloxyethoxy)ethanol (HOEE) reveal a medium dependent hydrogen bonding competition between homomolecular association (HAP]n + HOEE]n) and heteromolecular association (HAP-HOEE]n) with the former being favoured by low polarity solvents. |
