| Abstract: | Syntheses of the enantiomerically pure phytoprostanes B(1) type I and II are described starting from furfural and n-propylfuran. Key steps include the preparation of the Freimanis (+/-)-hydroxycyclopentenone and Wittig coupling using chiral phosphonium salts. |
