Abstract:The surface contents of C species on iron catalysts for the hydrogenation of CO were studied by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS). The surface atomic concentrations for the COS poisoned catalysts at different positions in the reactor showed that the Fe and S contents decreased with the increase of the depth along the catalyst bed. There are four kinds of carbon on COS poisoned catalysts. The content of metallic carbide decreased as the sulfur fed to catalyst decreased. The content of carbon in COO-increase with the increase of fixed-bed depth.
