Abstract: | Use of a rotating wedge-shaped mirror rather than a rotating prism gives a higher throughput rotation shearing interferometer. The new interferometer has polarization problems if the shear differs from 0° or 180°. However, for the commonly used 180° shear, the new interferometer offers a 4-fold reduction in time required for observations employing short-exposure sequences. |
