| Abstract: | Thiosemicarbazides are casily prepared by the addition of hydrazines or acid hydrazides to isothiocyanates. They are crystals of stable structure and can be conveniently isolated and purified. Under given conditions they undergo various reactions, especially ring-closure. They are important intermediates in the syntheses of many heterocyclic compounds. Thiosemicarbazides and their related heterocycles have shown broad-spectrum of pharmaccutical and biological activities, and therefore have been applied extensively to industrial and agricultural production as well as daily life. |
