| Abstract: | Using the linear mass spectrum of anSU (4) meson hexadecuplet, we derive the Gell-Mann-Okubo mass formula for the charmed mesons, in good agreement with experiment. The possible generalization of this method to a higher symmetry group is briefly discussed. On sabbatical leave from School of Physics and Astronomy, Tel Aviv University, Ramat Aviv, Israel.
