Computation of the probability of lightning damage to ground objects

Based on the statistical model proposed by the authors to describe the lightning leader advance toward the Earth and, specifically, toward grounded objects, an approach is developed for calculating the probability distributions for lightning damage to protected objects and lightning rods. Examples of lightning damage probability calculation are given for lightnings with various potentials (relative to the ground) and for various sites of the protected areas.
