Magnetic-field-induced displacive phase transition in IV–VI compounds

Abstract:The present work calculates the structural phase transition temperature (Tc) in a system with interband electron-phonon interaction in a strong magnetic field, assuming the temperature dependence of the soft-mode frequency to be due to anharmonicities. The results of the calculation are compared with the experiment on Pb1?xGexTe.
