Abstract: | A new organic compound was synthesised and tested as corrosion inhibitor of steel in phosphoric acid medium using gravimetric, electrochemical polarisation and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurements. Results obtained show that the inhibitor studied is a good cathodic inhibitor. EIS results show that the change in the impedance parameters (RT and Cdl) with concentration of triphenyltin 2-thiophene carboxylate (TTC) is indicative of the adsorption of molecules leading to the formation of a protective layer on the surface of steel. The effect of the temperature on the steel corrosion in 2 M H3PO4 and with addition of various concentrations of TTC in the range of temperature 298-348 K was studied. The associated apparent activation corrosion energy has been determined. |
