Synthesis and Antimicrobial Activity of Methyl (2 Z )-4-Aryl-2-{4-[(4,6-dimethylpyrimidin-2-yl)sulfamoyl]phenylamino}-4-oxobut-2-enoatesand Their Silver Salts

A series of new methyl (2Z)-4-aryl-2-{4-[(4,6-dimethylpyrimidin-2-yl)-sulfamoyl]phenylamino}-4-oxobut-2-enoateswas synthesized by the reaction of methyl esters of aroylpyruvic acids with2-(4-aminobenzenesulfamido)-4,6-dimethylpyrimidine in a mixture of aceticacid–ethanol (1 : 1). The obtained 4-oxobut-2-enoates reacted with silvernitrate in ethanol–DMF (2 : 1) to form their silver salts. The antimicrobialactivity of the compounds was studied.
