| Abstract: | We analyze numerically the influence of the dielectric substrate on the optical response and effective macroscopic parameters of fishnet metamaterials. We show that the substrate can suppress the region of the negative refractive index due to the weakening of the gap plasmon associated with the magnetic resonance of the structure. We also demonstrate that the effect of substrate vanishes when the number of the functional layers increases. |
