| Abstract: | A method for the quality control of trimethoprimum by RPHPLC is established. Irreversible adsorption of basic organic compounds on brush like RPHPLC packing has been overcome by the addition of organic modifiers, such as glacial acetic acid or n-dipropylamine inthe mobile phase, and the peak shape of trimethoprimum is improved. Thus a reliable quantitative separation of impurities in trimethoprimum is achieved. The mechanism for the effect of organic modifiers on the separation has been discussed. |
