Location of the first 3B2 ← 3B+2 transition in phenanthrene |

| Abstract: | The polarization of the triplet-triplet absorption spectrum of phenanthrene-d10 in the region from 3500 to 8500 A has been recorded. The 3B2? state is located at about 4250 Å. The possibility that phenanthrene might be a suitable chromophore for laser dye synthesis is discussed. |
