Emotion and Reason: a Discussion of the Pacific Magazine on the Lincheng Incident

Under the circumstances of the weak and chaos of the country, the liberalism intellectuals in the 1920s had contradictory attitude towards the political intervention of foreign powers. On the other hand, they had strong desire for the independ- ence of their nation - state. As a case, the Pacific Ocean＇s discussion on the Lincheng incident embodied the tension between emotion and reason. The liberalism intellectuals＇political view diverge greatly from the radical nationalists in respect of foreign policies as well as nationalistic goal.
