| Abstract: | Two ferroelectric liquid crystals containing the naphthalene moiety were synthesized from 2( S )-[2( R )-methylhexyloxy]propionic acid and its ( S , S )-diastereomer. Their mesogenic properties are compared with those of the analogous mesogens containing the biphenyl ring. |
