| Abstract: | A new procedure for preparing 1-alkyl-1,3-dihydro-2H-benzimidazol-2-ones fromo-nitroanilines by successive ethoxycarbonylation, catalytic hydrogenation and thermal cyclization under neutral conditions is described.
