| Abstract: | Treating the crystal as an isotropic elastic continuum, we show that deformation-potential coupling should lead to a local, crater-type lattice distortion centered at the electron-hole-drop (EHD). Surface restraints on this displacement field generate attractive forces between the drop and the crystal surface. This result is discussed in connection with recent experiments on EHD-motion in Ge. |
