Abstract: | Single sided multi-port system identification techniques, using sinusoidal excitation, for studying nonlinear energy transfer to higher harmonics for samples only accessible from one side such as perforated liners used as wall treatment in aircraft engine ducts are presented. The starting point is the so called polyharmonic distortion theory used for studying microwave systems. Models of different level of complexity are developed and the system identification results are compared. Experimental results, including error analysis, for a perforate sample are presented. The use of these techniques for analysing nonlinear energy transfer to higher harmonics and to improve the understanding of the physical phenomena involved are illustrated. |
