Abstract:Expressions describing field profile and dispersion relation are presented for the nonlinear waves of a symmetric periodic refractive index structure with two identical nonlinear claddings beside the guide core. In terms of these formulae, the properties of the field profiles of the nonlinear TE waves are analyzed. The results show that the symmetric and antisymmetric TE waves are nondegenerate, while the asymmetric TE waves are doubly degenerate.
