Abstract:
Geurst's equations are used to predict the speed of disturbance wave propagation in a mixture containing a compressible dispersed phase. Results are obtained for the case when there is no relative velocity ahead of the disturbance and are compared with Karplus' data for air-water mixtures. The changes in density, void fraction and the velocities of each phase across the wave are predicted.
