Volume plasmon losses in Si2pphotoemission spectra for photon energies up to 1600 eV

Abstract:The volume plasmon losses which appear in Si2p photoemission spectra have been studied in the photon energy range from threshold up to 1600 eV. The data are presented and discussed in the framework of a recent theoretical investigation by Inglesfield. In particular, a distinction is made between the structured component of the plasmon loss, which corresponds to the excitation of long wavelength plasmons, and the structureless background, originated by the excitation of short wavelength plasmons.
