| Abstract: | We construct a Thom class in complex equivariant elliptic cohomology extending the equivariant Witten genus. This gives a
new proof of the rigidity of the Witten genus, which exhibits a close relationship to recent work on non-equivariant orientations
of elliptic spectra.
