Abstract: | The viscosity of a suspension consisting of iron nanoparticles, aerosil, and glycerol has been studied under the conditions of a rotational flow in the presence and absence of a magnetic field. At low shear rates, the viscosity is governed by the magnetic field and increases 40 times with a rise in the field strength; at high shear rates, the effect of the mechanical stress field prevails. In this case, the relative viscosity increases by 1.4 times, and its concentration dependence in the magnetic field is described by a curve passing through a maximum. |
