| Abstract: | A simple, highly efficient and cheap synthesis of substituted naphthalenes is reported. These aromatic compounds can be easily prepared in acidic or basic conditions from small alpha]-tetralones, obtained by a xanthate-mediated addition-cyclisation sequence. |
