DABCO as a mild and efficient catalytic system for the synthesis of highly substituted imidazoles via multi-component condensation strategy

Abstract:A simple and efficient protocol for the synthesis of highly substituted imidazoles is developed through the condensation of 1,2-dicarbonyl compound, aldehyde, and ammonium acetate or amine via multi-component condensation strategy. The present method gives good to excellent yields of substituted imidazoles.
