Abstract:Basellasaponins A, B, C, and D, oleanane-type triterpene oligoglycosides having the dioxolane-type substituent, were isolated from the fresh aerial parts of Basella rubra L. together with betavulgaroside I, spinacoside C, and momordins IIb and IIc. The chemical structures of basellasaponins A, B, C, and D were determined from chemical and physicochemical evidence.
