Abstract:Dielectronic recombination (DR) rate coefficients for ground-state Ni-like Yb have been evaluated for the first time by using the multiconfiguration Hatree-Fock-Relativistic method. Level-to-level rate coefficients are presented for DR into the Cu-like singly excited states from the Ni-like gound state of the Yb42+ ion iva the 3l-14l1' 4l" manifold. The partial DR rate coefficients for the 3l-1 4l' 4l" states over the singly excited states of the Yb+41 ion are also given. The rate coefficients are found to peak at very low temperature (~100 eV) with a value of 2.86×10 -10 cm3s-1, and to be dominated by the contribution from the 3d-14l′4l″ states.
