| Abstract: | A general solution for beam path equation is proposed and the condition for theexistence of analytical solution is derived.The ray propagation theory of Ref.1]isgeneralized. Finally,as an example,the characteristics of Gaussian beam propagation in aparticular gradient index rod is also discussed. |
