Binding energies for positrons at metal surfaces

Abstract:The binding energies of surface states of positrons in the adiabatic approximation are estimated. The positron is allowed to penetrate the metal which is viewed as a dispersive plasma. Some other effects are also taken into account by introducing the positron work function as a phenomenological parameter. However, our results do not agree with experiment, which suggests that there are still effects unaccounted for by the theory.
