Abstract:Source distance plays an important role in the realistic acoustic environment, so the synthesis of perceived distance is of great significance for sound field reproduction. From listener's perspective, reverberation can improve perceived distance, especially the early reverberation. Based on the mechanism of human perception and Huygens principle, the image method formulation has been introduced into the Helmholtz integral equation to synthesize reverberant sound field. The proposed method can provide realistic changes in direct-to-reverberant energy ratio and sound intensity while the distance between the listener and source changes. Subjective listening test has proved that the proposed method can provide more authentic distance perception in the reproduced sound field.
