Abstract: | Radical dispersion polymerizations of monomers, for example methyl methacrylate and vinyl acetate, in n-alkanes were performed in the presence of the diblock copolymer poly(styrene-b-ethylene-co-propylene]), giving polymer particles stabilized by surface layers of chains of ethylene-propylene copolymer. The incorporation of a seed stage into the dispersion polymerization produced particles having a narrow size distribution. The mean particle diameter in the range 0.1 – 0.3 m is dependent on the concentration of diblock copolymer in the dispersion polymerization. |
