Abstract: | The formation of adhesive bond was studied for bulk low-density polyethylene irradiated in air. It was shown that the amount of the gel fraction over the depth of the surface layer is a signature of the relative contribution of degradation and crosslinking to the structure of the material at a given depth and makes it possible to determine its minimal depth below which the polymer has a sufficient strength required for the formation of an adhesive joint. |
