Abstract: | The aggregation stability of SiO2 (aerosil OX-50), FeOOH, ZrO2 CeO2, and natural diamond sols was studied by photometry over a wide range of KCl and BaCl2 concentrations at pH 6 and 3. It was shown that the stability of aerosil OX-50 and FeOOH sols is determined by the ion-electrostatic component of the particle interaction energy, and the stability of ZrO2, CeO2, and natural diamond sols, by the structural component of the interaction energy due to the overlapping of water boundary layers formed near the particle surfaces. |
