Formation of the three-dimensional structure of the subharmonic transition regime in Blasius flow

Abstract:The formation of the angles of the three-dimensional structure associated with subharmonic-type transition in a Blasius boundary layer is investigated. It is shown that the observed structure is determined by the selection of a spatially symmetric pair of Tollmien-Schlichting waves at parametric resonance of the background perturbations in the presence of induced oscillation.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 3, pp. 77–81, May–June, 1989.
