Abstract: | Abstract— The photochemical conversion of isoeugenol to vanillin can proceed via the 1O2 (1Δg) state of oxygen and can be effected over a wide range of base and dye concentrations. A typical situation involving methylene blue (0.3 mM), isoeugenol (24 mM) and a base concentration of 0.1 N will give yields of approximately 35% of the theoretical amount. |
