Synthesis of 5-substituted 2-nitraminopyrimidines and 2-hydroxyaminopyrimidines

2-Nitraminopyrimidine and its 5-R derivatives (R=Me, Cl, NO₂, Ph, p-O₂NC₆H₄) have been prepared by cyclization of nitroguanidine with 2-methyl-3-dimethylaminoacrolein or bis(dimethylamino)trimethinium salts, and also by nitration of the corresponding aminopyrimidines.
