Methods and Results of an Experimental Determination of the Catalytic Activity of Materials at High Temperatures

Abstract:Methods of experimental determination of the rate constants of heterogeneous catalytic recombination of nitrogen and oxygen atoms in dissociated subsonic nitrogen and air flows generated by a high-frequency inductive plasmatron are discussed. Together with the values of the probability of heterogeneous recombination gamma used in the literature, the rate constant of the elementary process of nitrogen atomic recombination is determined in accordance with the Langmuir-Hinshelwood mechanism.
