Solubility of nitrogen and ethylene in molten,low-density polyethylene to 69 atmospheres

Statistical mechanical correlations of ethylene and nitrogen solubility in molten, low-density polyethylene at several temperatures and at pressures to 69 atm are presented. The solubilities are taken from data previously published by us and by other workers. The data are modeled with a corresponding-states solution analysis applicable to mixtures of high-and low-density fluids. The model is based on a simple variation of the Flory and Prigogine corresponding-states theories. Gas sorption data are modeled well within experimental precision.
