Coordination compounds of bis[(1-cinnamoylhydrazonoethyl) cyclopentadienyl] iron lanthanide

Summary A new ligand, bis(1-cinnamoylhydrazonoethyl)cyclopentadienyl] iron (BCHCI) has been prepared, and its complexes with lanthanides, Ln₂(BCHCI)₃Cl₆·nH₂O (Ln=Y, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Dy, Ho. Er, Tm, Yb and Lu) have been made by reacting BCHCI with LnCl₃. A structure for these complexes, in which the ligand coordinates to lanthanide ions in its ketone form in a 1.51, molar ratio is suggested.
