| Abstract: | Substituted-3-benzylidenebenzob]thiophen-2-ones have been synthesized. 5,6-Dimethoxybenzob]-thiophen-2-(3H)one with aniline and triethyl orthoformate gives the 3-anilinomethylene compound, which can be hydrolysed to give the corresponding 3-hydroxymethylene derivative. Dimethoxybenzob]thieno2,3-b]-quinoline has been synthesized. |
