Effect of ion irradiation on C 60 thin films |

| Abstract: | We report a new effect of ion irradiation onC60 thin films:C60 thin films irradiated with 7-MeVC2+ ions show resistance tophotopolymerization. The resistance increases with increasingion fluence of irradiation. The effect is qualitativelyexplained by the fact that the number of aC60 pair satisfying the topochemicalrequirement for photochemical reaction in solids decreases bydestruction of C60 molecules accompaniedby lattice disorder. |
